CAT S60 rugged smartphone with thermal camera launched in India at Rs 64,999

The S60's claim to fame is the fact that it is the first smartphone in the world to come with an integrated thermal camera. The camera is sourced from FLIR which is the global leader in thermal imaging technology.
CAT envisages a multitude of use cases for the thermal camera such as detecting heat loss around windows and doors, identifying over-heating electrical appliances and circuitry and seeing in complete darkness. The thermal camera can pick up heat and measure surface temperatures from a distance of up to 50 feet and can even see through obstructions like smoke.

The smartphone also has an IP68 waterproof rating and can withstand immersion in up to 5 metres of water for up to 1 hour. Additionally, it comes with a dedicated SOS button which when pressed, sends your location coordinates to select contacts. The device also comes with a programmable key which can be used to launch any application in a jiffy.
CAT is a US based construction machinery manufacturing company that entered into a partnership with UK-based Bullitt mobile in 2013 to produce CAT branded phones and accessories. These devices are extremely durable and cater to those looking for abuse friendly smartphones.
Specification wise, the CAT S60 comes with a 4.7' HD display with wet finger and glove support, a 3,800mAh battery, the Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 32GB internal storage, 3GB of RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

On the imaging front, the device comes with a 13MP main camera with dual LED flash capable of shooting pictures underwater and a 5MP front facing camera. The FLIR thermal camera app offers various features such as changeable heat palettes, temperature spot meter and min, max and average temperature data.
The CAT S60 will be available from March 17 onward from Amazon India as well as prominent offline channels for a price of Rs 64,999. The fact that the CAT S60 is dustproof, shockproof, waterproof and MIL-SPEC 810G certified makes it an attractive proposition for those looking for an extremely durable device that can withstand almost any abuse thrown at it.
Linda Summers, Chief Marketing Officer, Bullitt Group, global mobile device licensee for Caterpillar Inc. said in a statement, "Following our evaluation of the Indian market over the last year, we have spotted an immense opportunity for our devices in the rugged smartphone category. Recognizing India's potential as a sophisticated and fast growing market, we are looking to launch in the country with a highly-targeted offering for both consumers and the B2B sector.
