The Union government has reportedly made Aadhaar mandatory for availing crop insurance policies from April 1. Crop insurance can be availed by furnishing documents such as Aadhaar enrolment slip and voter ID, among others, until Aadhaar is assigned to an individual. Notably, the Centre recently made Aadhaar mandatory for women of BPL households to avail subsidy for free LPG connection under Ujjwala Yojana scheme.
